Strength & Conditioning Program for Distance Runners
Historically, distance runners have been known to do very little outside of running to improve their performance on the roads. Strength and conditioning programs have traditionally been used only for sports such as football, hockey and baseball. Fitness360′s Strength and Conditioning Program for Distance Runners is the first program of it’s kind in Western New York. We consistently take experienced runners and transform them into athletes who break their own personal records on a regular basis. Flexibility and strength training, combined with a nutrition plan engineered for performance and recovery, contributes to this one of a kind experience. Our Strength & Conditioning Program for Runners has now seen over 60 personal best times since last November!
Maximize Lactate Threshold and VO2Max to establish a higher physical capacity
Correct and apply proper front and back stride biomechanics
Increase Functional Strength and Proprioception
Increase Durability and prevent common running injuries
Apply an appropriate nutrition and hydration plan based on each individual runner’s mileage, intensity, and climate

Congratulations to Victoria Rodriguez, Jenny Koepell-Acker, & Liana Bay-Cheng on their personal best times at the Toronto Marathon in October! Victoria PR’d by 5 minutes with a 2:53, Jenny improved by over 8 minutes with a 2:58, & Liana smashed her previous best by 20 minutes with a 3:04! The trio also placed extremely well among a spectacular international field with 9th, 13th, & 18th place as overall females! Victoria was first to cross the line from the U.S., and Jenny finished as the top runner in her age group.
Congratulations to Wendy Guyker from our Strength & Conditioning Program for Distance Runners, who successfully completed Ironman Arizona in a time of 12:33:17! Wendy is coached by Glenn Kaifas, and is also part of the Elite Running Team. With this being her first Ironman, she set a goal 5 months ago to complete the 2.4-mile swim, 112-mile bike, and 26.2-mile run in 14 hours; however, as result of her amazing commitment to nutrition and 15-20 hours per week of training, Wendy was able to smash that goal by almost 1.5 HOURS – despite the warm weather temperatures in Tempe, AZ. Additionally, Wendy ran 2 personal best times in the half-marathon during her training. Great job, Wendy!!
